Websites and IT help for small businesses, done remotely.

Fast, fixed-price websites you own outright, and senior IT advice from twenty years inside the Government of Canada. I take on a small number of clients each year, so each one gets my full attention.

Based in Prince Edward Island. Working with clients across Canada.

Websites for small businesses

A fast, good-looking site for your business, built for one fixed price and handed over to you. You own the domain, the site and every account. No monthly platform fees and no lock-in.

  • Designed around your business, not a template, and written in plain language your customers understand
  • Built as a static site, so there are no plugins to patch and very little that can break or be hacked
  • Mobile-first, quick to load, and set up so Google can find you
  • A contact or booking form that lands in your inbox
  • English, French or both
  • Simple edits you can make yourself, like hours, prices and photos
  • Your domain, hosting and email set up in your name

Starter site

$1,500

Up to 3 pages and a contact form.

Business site

$2,500

Up to 7 pages, with booking or quote forms.

Prices in Canadian dollars, plus HST. A second language adds $500. You pay your own domain, about $20 a year.

Annual care plan

$600 a year

One yearly fee keeps your site looked after. I watch your domain and security renewals, keep everything up to date, make small text and photo changes when you need them, and give the site a yearly check-up on speed and search.

Renews once a year. Cancel any time and keep everything.

Recent work

flyguypei.com

Kiteboarding lessons and paramotor Discovery Flight Lessons on Prince Edward Island, with booking forms, an online waiver and an automatic reply to every customer.

Want more customers once you're live? I work with James Manning, a digital marketing consultant who runs Google and Facebook ad campaigns, so your site and your ads are planned together.

IT for professional offices

For offices that handle other people's money and private information.

Financial advisors, insurance agencies, accounting firms and law firms hold client data that regulators, insurers and clients expect them to protect. Most are too small for an IT department and too important to wing it.

Fractional IT lead

A senior IT person on your side for a few hours a month. I set the plan and budget, choose and manage vendors, and check the work your technician does. From $500 a month, including 4 hours.

Microsoft 365 and security review

A remote health check of Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Active Directory: who can reach what, multifactor sign-in, forgotten accounts, and a plan to fix what's risky. $1,500, fixed price.

New office oversight

Opening a location or moving systems? I write the plan, gather the quotes, manage the installers and sign off when it's done right.

Other work is $125 an hour. Every project is quoted after a free call.

What I set up and keep in shape

  • Multifactor sign-in and sensible access for every staff member
  • Backups that are actually tested, including Microsoft 365 mail and files
  • Clean onboarding and offboarding, so people lose access the day they leave
  • Encryption and updates on every laptop
  • Written policies and records that support your privacy obligations under laws such as PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25
  • One person who deals with your IT vendors, so you don't have to

Agile coaching and automation

Short, focused engagements for teams that build software or run IT.

Agile coaching

A few weeks to get a stalled Scrum team moving again, a check-up on how your team plans and delivers, or coaching for a new Scrum Master. I've led Scrum teams of up to 12 on national government platforms.

Good for: Software teams, government contractors and integrators

Automation

PowerShell scripts that take repetitive admin work off your plate: setting up and removing staff accounts, licence clean-up and regular reports.

Good for: Teams doing the same IT chores every week

How it works

Everything happens by video call, email and secure remote access.

  1. Discovery call

30 minutes, free. You tell me what you need, and I tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

  2. Fixed quote or assessment

A fixed price for your website or project, or a written review of your IT with findings in plain language.

  3. Build

I build your site or carry out the plan, with short check-ins along the way. Most small-business sites are ready in a few weeks.

  4. Ongoing care

An annual care plan for your website, or a few hours a month of IT leadership for your office.

How remote works

  • I work in your systems with accounts you control and can switch off at any time.
  • Your client data stays in your systems, never on my laptop.
  • Physical work, like installing a server or running cable, is done by your local technician or installer. I plan it, direct it and check it.
  • I work in English, by email, chat or video call.
  • I reply within two business days. This is a small practice, not a 24-hour help desk.

Twenty years inside the Government of Canada

I've led Scrum teams building national benefits applications, secured Active Directory for multiple federal departments, and run IT support for a national department.

You get someone who understands security and governance, who can explain technology in plain language, and who has spent a career making systems that thousands of people depend on work properly.
